Play a Game

  1. Connect to an external monitor (this is an important step since the app will look for the external monitor when the Play button is selected. The Game Master screen will be on the primary monitor (or built-in screen) and the Contestant Screen will be on the secondary monitor (or external screen or projector).
  2. After you have made any edits desired (and verified the external monitor is connected), click the Play button.
  3. Select the number of teams (one or more contestants per team) to play.
  4. Name each team.
  5. Select the number of seconds the teams will have to respond after the Game Master selects the team.
  6. Click Start Game.
  7. The Game Master screen should appear on the primary (or internal) screen and the Contestant screen should appear on the secondary (or external) screen. The intro music will play, the teams will be displayed, the game board will be displayed and, one at a time, the category names will be displayed. One of the highest three prompts from any one of the categories will be assigned as the “Daily Double”, which will be designated on the Game Master screen as “DD”.
  8. The size of the Contestant screen can be adjusted on its monitor by clicking on the External Monitor button in the top right and then selecting the sizing option.
  9. You can close the game without further play by clicking on Close Game in the upper right.
  10. You can end the game without a Final Answer prompt by clicking on End Game—No Final Answer in the lower right. This will end the game and declare the winner.
  11. You can also end the game by going to the Final Answer by clicking Go To Final Answer in the lower left.
  12. In normal game play, select the cell corresponding to the choice of the choosing team. This brings up the prompt. If an image is attached to the prompt, the image will display on the Contestant screen along with the prompt text. If an audio file is attached to the prompt, an image will display on the Contestant screen and a controller will display on the Game Master screen. Clicking on the controller will play the audio file. If a video file is attached to the prompt, a player will display on the Contestant screen and a controller will display on the Game Master screen. Clicking on the controller will play the video on the Contestant screen.
  13. When a team has buzzed in, select the team that buzzed in and the time will start counting down on the Game Master screen. When the team responds, select Correct or Incorrect. If Correct, the cell on the Contestant screen will change to the team’s color and the score will be adjusted. If Incorrect, the score is adjusted and the remaining team(s) will remain selectable on the Game Master screen until you select No More Guesses. If No More Guesses is selected, the cell will be blacked out and the game will return to the main screen.
  14. At any point, from the main Game Master screen, Undo Last Action can be selected.
  15. When the Daily Double is chosen, an audible signal will sound. Choose which team chose the Daily Double, enter their Wager Amount, which can be any value up to their total score, if positive. If their score is zero or negative, the wager amount is automatically set to the value of Daily Double from the grid. If you have chosen the wrong team, you can click on Choose another team to correct your error. Once the correct team and wager are set, click on Reveal Prompt to proceed.
  16. Final Answer will display the Category of the Final Answer along with instructions on the Game Master screen. Have each team record their wager, from $0 up to their full positive score. Once all teams have done this, click Reveal Prompt and the click Start Countdown Music. If there is an image, audio, or video file attached to the Final Answer prompt, the media works the same as any other prompt. You may want to pause long enough to play the media before starting the timer. The timer will count down 30 seconds. Just before ending, the Contestant screen will turn red momentarily to signal the approaching time limit. When the timer runs out, the teams will be displayed in order from the lowest score to the highest. For each team, enter their wager and then mark if their written answer is correct or incorrect. After all the teams have been entered, click End Game and Show Winner. The Contestant screen will declare the winner and the winning score and then the game will automatically close.
